The Disabled American Veterans is an accredited veteran service organization created in 1920 by World War I veterans for disabled military veterans of the United States Armed Forces that helps them and their families through various means. It was issued a federal charter by Congress in 1932. DAV has over 1 million members. The DAV National Headquarters can be reached at (877) 426-2838.

The Georgia Department of Veterans Service is an agency of state government created for the purpose of advising, counseling, and assisting Georgia’s veterans and their families in receiving their rightful benefits under the vast and complex framework of veterans’ laws. Veterans Empowerment Organization works to empower veterans along their journey to self-sufficiency. In Atlanta, there is a lack of housing for all veteran populations, including females, post 9/11, aging veterans, and those with families.
